Gaza aid flotilla attacked, 10 killed

Press Tv

Israeli forces have attacked the international aid convoy Freedom Flotilla en route to the besieged Gaza Strip, killing at least 10 people and leaving more than 50 injured.

The attack came on Monday morning after one of the six ships in the convoy was hit by Israeli navy forces before being stormed by commandos descending from helicopters.

The interception reportedly took place in international waters, more than 150km (90 miles) off the coast of Gaza.

Israel had earlier deployed warships and threatened to stop the flotilla from reaching the Palestinian territory where the war-ravaged residents were impatiently eying the arrival of the aid convoy.

Israeli navy forces and helicopters have taken over the ships in the humanitarian aid convoy and are using force against those on board, a Press TV correspondent reported.

Israeli soldiers have also reportedly detained activists accompanying the convoy.

In Gaza, Palestine’s democratically elected Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh strongly condemned the attack on the flotilla and called on the international community to protect the aid mission.

The convoy carries 10,000 tons of supplies and hundreds of politicians, activists and journalists.

The flotilla was seeking to break Israel’s crippling blockade of Gaza and deliver basic necessities to the impoverished Palestinians in the coastal enclave.

If Israel is willing to do this in the wide open, unlike their normal cloak and dagger cover ups, etc, then I think that we have a lot more to worry about what else is going to be happening that is now going to be in the open. This obviously puts the US in the position to show their true self or abandon Israel. Hmmm…what do you all think the US will do? I am truly scared now.

Conservative Examiner has received an eyewitness account from a reporter who was the very first to interview soldiers who saw the entire thing unfold, as they were rescued aboard a helicopter that was dispatched to the region. The eyewitness account is curiously very different from mainstream media reports.

    Here is that report:

The broadcaster was speaking on board the helicopter which was
ferrying wounded combatants, both IDF soldiers and their attackers, to hospitals in Israel. This is the story he got from those who fought it.

The first wave of boarders numbered 13. They roped down from
helicopters armed with sidearms only. Their mission was to take
command of the ship, (the large luxury liner, a Turkish-owned tourist ship) and maintain order. They did not expect a massive violent opposition which was planned by the extremist defenders.

The opposition numbered many hundreds who used knives, steel
crowbars, swords. They outnumbered the small IDF group at first,
stabbing and throwing the IDF boarders to lower floors, and overboard.

Many of them took the IDF sidearms and used them against their
attackers. Soldiers were also taken to lower floors as hostages. Only their strength and bravery prevented their lynching.

One of them, despite his many wounds, was able to retake his pistol and even then, fired at legs instead of to kill. At this point, in a matter of only moments, the IDF mission now saw itself in danger and changed to “shoot to kill” to defend their own lives.

The second wave of IDF boarders then lowered to the ship, and also boarded from adjoining navy vessels, and the battle then heated up..Many of the original attackers were then hunted down and overcome with live fire.

IDF forces then went from cabin to cabin searching for weapons which were found, clearing the ship from any more danger to themselves.

The other five smaller ships were al.so boarded but there was no opposition.

As of this writing, the ships are making their way now to the port of
Ashdod, under IDF command, to discharge their passengers, interview and interrogate them. It remains to be seen whether they will cooperate or continue their hostile behavior.

Israel is well aware of the negative world reaction which will
emanate from today’s events. The Hamas axis will be defended by those who will condemn Israel’s justifiable action to keep the terrorist Hamas Gaza out of bounds to outside aid.

That Gaza is not destitute and receives hundreds of tons of
humanitarian supplies daily, that the lies of our enemies continue to hoodwink the naive and anti-Israel world opinion in their evil desire to destroy Israel.

Todays mission by the IDF did not go according to plan. Very few
military operation do. But the tragic loss of life only occurred
because of the mindless hatred and violent attackers of Hamas and their abetors.

It goes without saying that Bibi Netanyahu should immediately fly
home, forget about his Obama date, and take charge of the massive public relations job that now will be needed.

The anti-Israeli propaganda machine, of course, will do everything in its power to attempt to insure that the public is never informed of the facts.

Hamas, the Islamic terrorist group in the Middle East, has an extensive network of collaborators who will perpetrate these acts of violence in an attempt to paint Israel as an ‘aggressor.’ Yet the Islamists are among the most aggressive, and dangerous, perpetrators of lawlessness in the entire world.

    The facts speak for themselves.
