Huge earthquake rocks Christchurch New Zealand – Before and After Pics

BREAKING NEWS: One of the biggest earthquakes in recorded history has struck Christchurch and the South Island this morning.
The massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit before dawn, causing widespread damage and cutting power.
The quake was centred 30km west of Christchurch and 33m underground. It hit at 4.35am and there have been many reports of damage.
It was felt widely across the South Island, including Christchurch and Timaru, and there have also been reports of the quake being felt as far as Wellington. Several aftershocks have been felt.
The rail network in the South Island has been shut down while it is inspected for damage.
Civil Defence is considering activating its emergency management national crisis centre.

Christchurch is the rascism capital of new zealand, good riddance
Tell us more Asterix. I’ve never heard Christchurch referred to like that. What happens or has happened there that makes you say that?

Racist population or not this is an unfortunate event. In the states we have of course had larger earthquakes from 7.9 to 9.2 predominantly in Alaska. I have to wonder why one would wish think such a calamity would be “good riddance” to the people there? Have they honestly and truly done enough to warrant such devastation?
All people have moments of intolerance-some more than others-but is such an event really what you’d want others to experience Asterix? If so, perhaps you need to focus less upon fixing others then fixing what goes on inside your head.

I am not sure about the direct area that was hit by the earthquake but i know a good amount of people from New Zealand and they are for the same things we are, freedom and liberty.

Really Asterix – not a description I would use for my hometown – of all the places I have been it is probably the least racist of them all – as entitled to your opinion as you are it still doesn’t make you any less stupid – perhaps your experience was brought on by your own attitude and ignorance????

Asterix, may you be struck by lightning, as people like you do not deserve to live on this earth while lot’s of other good people suffer.
People like Asterix seem to infest many message boards these days.The difference between him and his fellow illiterate liberals is that he proclaimed his stupidity in just one sentence,rather than ramble on with his BS.I will keep the people of New Zealand and especially Christchurch in my prayers.I live in a geologically active area and earthquakes can be an unnerving experience the first couple of times.

i only stayed in christchurch for 4 months in 2004 before shifting. its a really great area. i have met lots of friends and also at Davie.lovell Smith. my simpathy goes to them and all. racist attitude in Christchurch exists at a vey vey low level coz i have also experienced same. but its just some lunatics who acts alike. a drop in an ocean. most people i met were very helpful and cordial.
New Zealand, Australia, perhaps the last refuge of White Civilization. We American Southerners care deeply what happens to ChristChurch and the like. Asterix can move to Indonesia, or better yet, Africa.

I am from Chch. I deplore and refute Asterix’s view. However, I despise Daivd “Mr Southern America”‘s view far more intensely. There are a very few small-minded racist idiots in Christchurch. They are small fry with loud voices and no real presence. I have met racism much more inherent and deep-rooted all over the world, it is just that in Chch they get away with it because no-one actually takes them seriously.
Mr Southern White America I hope you never ever set foot in my liberal, open-minded, anti-racist, care-free, lovely country EVER. The fellow-racists you believe exist are just as few low-IQ scabby nobodies who think they have discovered a way to make themselves important. They haven’t.
Asterix, I hope you can learn to ignore the sensationalist, tabloid generalisations and see that the racists here are few, far-between and as welcome to the average Christchurchian as a pus-filled boil, and at least twice as embarressing.

Asterix is right Christchurch is the racism capital of New Zealand. If you are not kiwi you are nothing. I am living in Christchurch and dream leave this country soon as i can. earthquake hit city and it keep going till now every day non stop we had 2069 aftershocks. It big luck no one died.and it nothing to do with good building. Houses in New Zealand is rotten, they to do decoration around houses and say “house is safe” and then cracks coming back.Bureaucracy rule this place
