Dr. Suzanne Humphries made it to the upper echelons of modern medicine, believing in the towering achievements of the great men of science – Jonas Salk, Albert Sabin and Edward Jenner – pioneers of the vaccine age. Polio was a toxicological disease, caused by the deadly chemicals – lead, arsenic, phosphorous – that were then used in agriculture, on food, fruit and cotton. The vaccination campaigns increased, not decreased illness, and acted as a cover-up for the real culprit – industrial poisoning.
Where large-scale chemical poisoning has caused mass illness, paralysis and death, modern medicine has played handmaiden, by redirecting the public imagination to invisible monsters – viruses – blamed for the sins of chemical industry. Industries which first coated food in lead and arsenic, then replaced it with deadly DDT, which was sprayed on food, animals, in houses and on people to ‘stop polio.’
The hidden reality of our age is this: The 19th and 20th Centuries have been marked by toxic poisonings in urban populations by ever-expanding industry.
