Former Senator Chris Dodd Calls Largest Internet Protest In History a “Gimmick”

Former Senator Chris Dodd and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America has claimed that yesterday’s massive online protest against the SOPA internet censorship bill was nothing more than a gimmick.
Dodd, who himself had a long history of corruption during his time in the Senate, apparently believes that the collective voice of millions of Americans who spoke out against SOPA in yesterdays massive online protest means absolutely nothing.
An article on NewJerseyNewsRoom covered the major internet blackout and the ridiculous quotes from former Senator Chris Dodd:
Calling the protests a “gimmick” and an “abuse of power,” former Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut, now the CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, said in a statement,
“It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests,” and called for its supporters to, “stop the hyperbole and PR stunts and engage in meaningful efforts to combat piracy.”
Combat online piracy? Chris Dodd and his Hollywood masters are attempting to stifle free speech in America and he expects the American people to believe, despite overwhelming evidence, that SOPA is about combating piracy?
Dodd, a person who spent years working with big bank insiders and against the American people, has absolutely no credibility and the fact that he is one of the main voices supporting SOPA just goes to show how dangerous the Stop Online Privacy Act actually is.
As the corporate controlled media and Hollywood insiders continue to whine about the overwhelming backlash against SOPA and similar proposed laws, we must continue to fight these dangerous, first amendment killing bills until they have been completely and thoroughly defeated.

Douche Dodds?
These arrogant elitist tyrants are so out of touch, they’ll be mumbling, ‘Just another gimmick’ as the hood is pulled over their head, and the rope is yanked tightly around their neck.
The upside to this mindset is, they won’t have enough sense to run, making it easier for justice to be done.
The most dangerous thing about this Administration and their attendant ilk are they are not ‘out of touch’, moronic, nor misinformed. They know exactly what they are doing.
I’ve read both bills. They are about combating piracy, and SOPA even reiterates protection of first amendment freedom of speech, right on page 2 of the bill.
The provisions in these bills are already present in existing laws that prohibit child porn and selling of illegal drugs on the internet. In comparing these antipiracy bills, the only thing I see is the desire to extend those same provisions to internet piracy.
This will hardly break the internet and since when did freedom of speech ever give anyone the right to steal? My recommendation is that people actually pull up a copy of these bills, read them for themselves, and stop relying on the misinformation and scare tactics being utilized by the major opponents of these bills, such as Google, and you should be able to see that their true agenda is nothing more than the desire to protect their own profits. Just last year, Google paid a $500 million dollar fine to the government, to settle charges of accepting advertising revenue from rogue pharmacies, who were using Google advertising to peddle illegal narcotics without a prescription, including dangerously addictive drugs such as Oxycotin and Ritalin. The federal investigation determined that Google was fully aware of this illegal drug trafficing, and not only was Google aiding and abetting, Google was profiting from it. To me, it seems obvious that Google, and other major internet sites, are only seeking to protect their own corporate interests (and profits), while hypocritically accusing the entertainment industry of greed.
My recommendation is that before jumping on the protest bandwagon, pull up a copy of these bills and read them for yourself.
