The latest tip suggests that Dead Island 2 and possibly a new Saints Row game are going to launch as Epic Games exclusive. This is coming from Epic Games Store ‘Review of Performance and Strategy’ document dating to October 2019, and it has now been made public during the whole Epic Vs. Apple trial. It is the same document that shows that Epic has spent at least $1 billion on launch exclusives for the store.
With that said, there are a few things to keep in mind about the document that was revealed. For starters, there is a chance that the Saints Row launch would have already happened since Saints Row 3: Remastered launch on Epic Games last year. So, that leaves us with Saints Row 5, but the information on that is scarce at best.
On the other hand, Dead Island 2 is something that interests us more. The document reveals that the game is going to be an Epic Store exclusive. However, we are not sure if the game is coming, to begin with. It has been almost 7 years since the game was officially revealed but ever since its initial announcement, the project has been handed to multiple studios including Techland, Yager, as well as Sumo Digital. But at the time of writing, it is officially under development at Dambuster Studios.
Since then, there have been numerous confirmations that Dead Island 2 is still happening but the main concern here is that we do not know when it is happening. For whatever it is worth, we are not even sure if the game will see the light of day.
Dead Island 2 along with Dying Light 2 are among the most hyped games at the moment, especially if you are looking at the nature of both games and how there has been a scarcity in good zombie shooters/beat-em-ups.
