No Star Wars Game in Development at Coalition

Gears of War developers The Coalition has finally stepped in and confirmed that there is no Star Wars game in development at the moment. The studio’s community manager decided to take it to Reddit and explain how they are not working on any project revolving around the Star Wars IP, and while this is certainly sad news, it is good to see that there are no teases being done.

Community manager TC_Kilo took to Reddit and made the following statement,

Just to clarify regarding the Star Wars thing, we are not working on any such title.

He has also said that they do not have anything to announce at the time of writing this. The rumours started flying when The Coalition talked about how they have two projects in the works earlier this week. Both of the games were going to run on Unreal Engine 5. This sent the internet in a frenzy as everyone started to speculate about the games that The Coalition is working on.

One rumour was suggesting that the studio is working on a Star Wars project, while the other one talked about how The Coalition is working closely with 343 Industries on Halo Infinite. However, it is important to know that we are still not sure if these rumours are true.

The Coalition has decided to go with Unreal Engine 5 for their next games. However, due to Unreal Engine 5 being technically complex, it is better that one should wait before the studio has announced new games. The studio has talked about how shifting to a new engine has proven to be a big undertaking, and have also clarified how they are not planning on releasing any new games.

However, if you are still looking forward to a Star Wars game, The Division developers are actually working with Lucasfilms on an open-world Star Wars title, and while we don’t have details on that, an open-world Star Wars feels like a great game.
