Sony Could Bring Big PlayStation Franchises to Mobile

There is currently a job opening for a Head of Mobile at PlayStation Studios in San Mateo, California and this job opening has made us realize that Sony might be planning on adopting some of the big franchises on the mobile platforms. Considering how mobile gaming has become a thing that is only going up, it makes a lot of sense for Sony to start capitalizing on that aspect, as well.

This is what the official statement reads,

Do you want to lead the development and strategy of mobile gaming and help shape the future of gaming for a world-class studio? As Head of Mobile, you will own and develop the mobile games strategy for PlayStation Studios and help build a foundation for future growth opportunities. You will lead all aspects of the expansion of our game development from consoles and PCs to mobile & Live Services with a focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile. You will be responsible for building and scaling a team of mobile leaders and will serve as the Head of this new business unit within PlayStation Studios.

Honestly, this is not something that is considered odd by any means. You know why? Because Sony will not be the first major company to move towards mobile gaming. Nintendo has done it too a few years ago, and with Sony dabbling into it as well, we only wonder what the company has in stores.

It is also important to keep in mind that Sony has good expertise in mobile gaming; the company previously released a rather unimpressive smartphone in the form of Sony Xperia Play, but in addition to that, most of the Sony phones can be used to play stream games using a PlayStation controller and a console.

So, at this point, it is only safe to say that we are looking forward to seeing Sony release more games onto the mobile platform. As far as what games are concerned, we are not sure about that, at the moment.

This is good, especially when you look into the fact that mobile gaming has become a lot more popular over the past couple of years. That, coupled with the fact that gaming phones are an actual product that you can buy, having Sony release AAA games in some capacity on mobile platforms is only going to make things better.
