“States Rights For The Gulf States”
Simply put, the Gulf States Movement (GSM) is about the States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida taking a stand and exercising our 9th and 10th Amendment Rights protected by the United States Constitution.
For too long now we’ve witnessed firsthand the encroachments made on the States by the Federal Government. The 2010 Gulf Oil Spill Catastrophe is the last straw. Since day one; BP & DC have hindered cleanup operations in the Gulf, while preventing the States effected from assisting in the efforts to help save Our Coasts, Our Beaches, Our Wetlands, Our Wild and Sea Life, Our Way of Life, and Our Gulf.
Furthermore, a dozen Countries have offered equipment, technology, and their assistance in helping to contain and curtail this Catastrophe in the Gulf. While the Feds have turned down their help; the Gulf States must be willing to openly embrace and welcome them. For this affects the entire Human Race, and all Life on Earth.
Over a billion gallons have spilled into the Gulf already, with no end in sight. While all the Coast Guard is doing is sending out smalls boats equipped with small skimmers to only collect the oil that’s close to the shores in certain areas, there’s sadly still no effort or attempt to go out and get the oil; BP dumping over a million gallons of Corexit is only making things worse and polluting the Gulf even more.
Hurricane Season is also a major concern for all of the Gulf States; just one Hurricane coming into the Gulf of Mexico could very well drive Millions of Gallons of Oil Sludge from both the Gulf Surface as well as the Plumes of Oil suspended beneath the Gulf inland. Dumping Oil, Corexit, and other Volatile Organic Chemicals coming out with the Oil onto fresh water bodies; ponds, lakes, bayous, streams, swamps, and rivers killing freshwater fish along with countless other wildlife. Communities, Towns, and Major Populated Cities; New Orleans and Houston would also be in the Hurricanes crosshairs, which could result in the sickness and death of who knows how many people.
With each passing Month, Week, Hour, Minute, and Second, the situation in the Gulf continues to deteriorate. Something has to be done, and the time for Action is now. With your help, support, knowledge, experience, skills, and active participation; the GSM will lead the Gulf States to rise up, take charge, and do our part to help the Gulf States play a huge role in with the cleanup operations.
We will call, write, fax, email, and petition our States Governors and States Elected Officials to take Action and stand up for States Rights. What’s happening in the Gulf doesn’t just effect the people who life in the Gulf Region, but if something more proactive isn’t done it will ultimately affect all the people of the World.
BP must also be held completely responsible and liable for their actions; which resulted in the Deepwater Horizon Oil Rig explosion on April 20, 2010; in which 11 people tragically lost their lives. It is up to the Gulf States to hold BP accountable for all the damage that has been done. However, the moratorium imposed by the Feds is severally hurting jobs, as well as the already badly damaged economy of the Gulf States.
Not all of the Oil Rigs operating in the Gulf of Mexico needs to be shut down; most of them were operating without any problems or issues. Only the Oil Rigs that once neighbored the Deepwater Horizon should remain offline, until the Gulf Floor is properly inspected and surveyed in order to determine the extent of the damage caused by the Explosion on April 20, 2010. The GSM is neither a Pro Oil nor Pro Clean Energy Group; we simply believe that there is no reason for all of the Oil Rigs currently operating in the Gulf to be shut down. The only thing the moratorium is doing is increasing the Unemployment numbers, and forcing us to import more Oil from foreign shores; none of which helps the American people.
