**Update – Intel HubRSOE EDIS is reporting that a 1,000 strong search team was tasked with finding the impact area and so far have been unable to locate it.

The Colombian media has been buzzing with eyewitness accounts of the fireball, which fell from the sky, causing a massive explosion at 3:15PM Sunday. However after an intense search Monday authorities were find any remnant of the meteorite.A committee assembled by Santander Governor Horacio Serpa to analyze the phenomenon said they believe it was a type of meteorite known as an aerolite, which can be comprised of either iron or rock and ice. They believe it is likely to be the latter type, which often breaks up into small fragments in the air, making it impossible to locate on the ground...."It was thought to have been a plane that crashed, but that hypothesis was ruled out," he added. Cosmic Event in Colombia

Such a colossal event, so little media coverage.

Around 3:10PM Sunday afternoon residents of Colombia were awestruck when the clear sky was cracked open by a massive fireball that exploded upon impact leaving a 300 foot wide crater and a lot of rattled nerves.

This is not the first time this year that an impact event has been underreported.

Colombia: ‘Giant fireball’ was a meteorite

By Kirsten Begg Colombian authorities confirmed that a “giant fireball” that fell from the sky in the Santander department, central Colombia, was a meteorite. The Colombian media has been buzzing with eye witness accounts of the fireball, which caused a massive explosion at 3:15PM local time Sunday. Andina.com reported that Bucaramanga Mayor Fernando Vargas confirmed that the phenomenon was a meteorite that left a crater 100 meters in diameter when it crashed into the earth in the San Joaquin municipality in Santander. As I started writing this article the top story on CNN was “Dragon Con takes American by storm”, on MSNBC the top story was “Obama assails GOP at Labor Day rally”, and on FOX it was “Obama takes aim at economic woes – and GOP foes”.

I looked on each of their websites and not a peep about the impact event in Colombia. When an object strikes the planet and leaves a huge crater, is it not worthy of western news coverage?

Is this event not one of the BIGGER stories in recent times? Did you know that an asteroid hit Mexico back in February and received no mainstream American media coverage? Here’s a little snippet for you.

Reports are a bit sketchy right now, but apparently a bright flaming object was seen coming down about 100 miles northeast of Mexico City on Wednesday around 18:30 local time. There was a roar that was loud enough to shake buildings. Another news article is reporting a crater 30 meters in diameter was found.

Have you considered that it may not be a meteorite. I speak and read Spanish and the original reports from the eye witnesses are different to all that everyone in the media is saying, I have the videos.

  2. Joni says:

I only saw the poor shot of the report being shown on a TV set which seemed to show an object moving quite slowly, and it was in two parts like it had broken up. Was this the object?

I saw a satellite re-entry once (a Russian Cosmos satellite back in about 1979 to be precise) and this seemed to move at about the same speed with a plume around it which was (as I recall) kind of purple coloured. There was no sound in that case (too high in the atmosphere I guess) but I guess there’d be a sonic boom if something like that was closer to the ground – and probably a double-boom at that.

    Did they find a crater?

  3. dogismyth says:

Huh?? Is there a picture of the impact site? Where’s the coverage?

Hmmm…let’s see Columbia is now under USSA control since our money has bought a corrupt regime to continue to the drug trade.

Does anyone really believe that a meteor hit? WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?

The last thing I want to hear is a bunch of low IQ people telling us what they think they saw.

Another ridiculous story…..I’ll chalk it up to propaganda…nothing more

  4. Cold WInd says:

    War of the worlds again.

  5. octaviameister says:

I have looked on numerous sites both Spanish and English, and there are no photos of the crater? The mayor of the town this supposed meteorite crashed, said the crater was 150 meters in diameter, yet there are NO photos anywhere that I can find. I also saw a video and a lady said she saw the meteor had a “wing”.

I looked on cnn.com and there is no mention of this incident, though there are stories about bears and a story about that murderer Van der Sloot who is in South America, again, no mention of the meteor.

The question remains, where are the photos of the crater? If anybody runs across any, please let us know.

  6. fabian says:

There is a video from a Military source saying that they haven’t found nothing, no crater no wreckage, some of the people that saw it claims that is looked like the back of a plane, which technically gives it the shape of a V, some other people said that maybe was a satellite that just felt, but there is not evidence at all. Just in case I have collected all the videos from the witnesses.

  7. Sisterbluebird says:

Check with the Fortean Times. They specialize in news like this. If anyone will get a hold of photos, it will be them.

  8. migu says:

I have been fallowing the event. I am located about 200 kms from the bumm on Sunday sept 5, 2010. One person saw a flash on the skie and asked if we see it. I am here in Colombia, close to Serrania del Perija (Colombia border line with Venezuela)and early this morning at 4:30 am, sept 7, 2010, there was a big flash in the ski, illuminating my room, and about 6 seconds after, a big sound that lasted 8 to 10 seconds, shaking windows like an earthquate, I know it was not lighting, it was a big objet that exploded in the ski. I will be talking to peaple in the twons to get more info.

New report talks about two explosions, here is the link,

    http://colombiareports.com/colombia-news/news/11708-colombia-unable-to-locate-meteorite-crash-site.html

Something is wrong with this picture, considering that not one saw a second meteorite…

  10. fabian says:

This is the only picture I have been able to find,

    http://www.generaccion.com/usuarios/31374/investigan-presunta-caida-meteorito-noroeste-colombia

That’s not 100 meters, someone is lying again, this is too close to the border with Venezuela.

  11. fabian says:

After getting the location I went to goggle and the area is blocked, why?, what is there to hide, the location is on San Joaquin Santander Colombia. Check it out.

  13. octaviameister says:

The photo of the crater is suspicious, to say the least. And the area is blocked on google?

This incident is very suspicious. Not being reported in the govt controlled MSN tells me this is some type of black ops deal, after all, the US has all kinds of bases in Columbia now. I’m betting by 9-9, there will be no news on this incident and it will swept under the rug. Hope I’m wrong…..

If anyone has further news on this incident, please let us know.

  14. DarkStarAz says:

Eyewitness testimony is always interesting, but if there is a three hundred foot hole you would think at least one reporter would get into his helicopter and shoot some video…

  15. DarkStarAz says:

Interviews are great for human interest stories. But you would think with a three hundred foot crater in the ground, some enterprising reporter would get into his helicopter and shoot some footage…

Second Explosion Under Investigation in Colombia – September 7,2010
Authorities are investigating whether a second explosion heard on Monday in the vast area of the southwestern Colombian province of Valle, similar to one heard a day earlier in the northeast, was caused by a falling meteorite.
The explosion was heard in the municipalities of El Cairo, Versalles Toro and El Dovio, in the northern part of Valle del Cauca. A powerful explosion was heard and then “the earth seemed to shake,”
Local residents are alarmed, and apparently people “after seeing the bright light heard an incredibly powerful explosion that shook the earth,” Versalles Mayor Jorge Hernan Gomez said, citing eyewitness accounts.
Since Sunday, meanwhile, Colombian authorities have been investigating whether an enormous celestial fireball that crossed the sky above several municipalities in the northeastern province of Santander over the weekend was a meteorite.
Two days in a row? Were we being hit over the oceans and in other areas inbetween these two events?
Keep your eye on the weather in this region.

  19. Galen says:

    Guys,

you remember the US Air Force’s secret experimental unmanned space shuttle X-37b? It’s all very hush hush and no one really knows what it is doing up there!
We just had two asteroids zip by earth… No telescope on earth (privately owned) can get a good picture but don’t you all find it very suspicious that all the BIG telescopes and Hubble have no pictures of them??
I think it’s safe to assume that we are being lied to, it’s been that way for millenia, but we are smart enough to draw our own conclusions.
I don’t want to jump the gun here and say this or that, but it’s very easy to see that things are accelerating in an exponential rate…
Remember the movie “2010 – The year we make contact”? We’ve been “receiving” this message for a long time, and recently been bombarded by alien movies, tv shows and books and all sorts of stuff about aliens, and mind you most of these fictional aliens are agressive!
I am more inclined to say that this is a covert and concerted effort by a multinational consortium to:
    a) scare the crap put of us
    b) get us to submit and accept a “new world government” for our safety
    c) let go of any liberties still left, because the “bad aliens” are coming to eat our brains…

Think about it for a moment, read more on the subject and you’ll start seeing that it makes sense…
Why the hell do we need the ISS if there’s nothing in space for us? We are not mining asteroids or the moon or any other celestial body… We have nothing in orbit that justifies building and maintaining a space station. So why have it? To make experiments in zero gravity? Yeah right! And I believe in Santa Claus too! :)
This has been decades in the making and the final stages are now possible because the current technology is sufficiently developed.
Do I doubt that there have been real ET beings visiting Earth? No, I believe that it is possible. Are aliens coming to abduct us, rape us, kill us and destroy the planet? I don’t believe so… We are so far away that it doesn’t make any sense… Only if we’re some kind of rare delicacy that they can only find every couple thousand years! :P
Let’s focus on the bastards sitting in our parliaments and congresses, and in presidential palaces and their pals the CEO’s, because they are the real threat and they are HUMAN, capable of anything to achieve their goals. Just read “The Prince” by Niccolò Machiavelli and you’ll start believing.

As far as this story goes, I saw the photo and I smell a big dead RAT… But this story won’t go anywhere… Because we won’t find anything.

Greets to all and keep your eyes peeled and your ears sharp!

  20. octaviameister says:

Yes Galen, I agree with much of what your post. As I said earlier, this story is already dead. With all of our military based in Columbia now, I think they no doubt have something to do with this incident. And why did google block the area?

This could be the start of the so called (fake) Alien invasion and yes, the sheeple slaves will submit to their governments.

Since the government is now announcing we are on high alert for a (staged) terror attack, the slaves will be focused on that for now, when not watching their football/baseball/golf on their tv. Perfect time for the staged alien attack, or maybe tptb will throw it all at us at once. Al Qeda, aliens and who knows?

Meanwhile, nothing on the meteorite or it’s crater, this story is over.

  21. Chris Gudmann says:

I have looked at the Google map for the town and department and country in question and find NO EVIDENCE that GOOGLE has blocked the images. In fact, San Juaquin in Santander is MUCH more accessible than other places in the country. Not all parts of the globe have the same levels of access and not all parts of the globe are “deemed” worthy of close imaging, apparently. I can hover over my back yard in America, but NOT over a friend’s house in England. You can not get a very close view of the ground anywhere in th British isles, which I take has to do with their sovereign wishes which are somehow relayed to Google… Look at other parts of Columbia; the Santander area can be MUCH MORE CLOSELY VIEWED than other areas chosen at random.
SO . . . . in the midst of this obviously interesting story we need to be VERY CAREFUL not create disinformation though our own enthusiasm . . . unless its part of our job with the NSA!

  22. MyNameisVI says:

    It was 2010RX30 asteroid (15 m) who hit California and 2010RF12 Colombia (9m) SpaceWeather.com
Those asteroids are new from a supernova explosion

They were trucked by NASA. Those two were supposedly for experiment only. The big One is coming like they keep saying because they know what they did up there with landing on asteroids and attach to them some ‘devises’ to ‘tow’ them

I pray to GOD that those truly friends of Earth up there won’t let that happened to humanity and will take the asteroid out before entered on Earth’s atmosphere like they did before.

    I love you ALL.

    I am English, I live in Benidorm(Spain)
On Sunday evening latish overlooking the mediterranean sea from Benidorm I did see this sighting,a deep brownish object traveling south-east from my balcony,it was something like 2230hrs C.E.T.

From Benidorm to Bogota(columbia) looking at Google Earth, it would of been traveling roughly from 51.4 deg, presuming of course the one that I saw,was the same one.

I am very interested in this, your comments would be very appreciated.
