For the first time in Canadian history, a public museum will exhibit evidence which makes reference to overtly genocidal policies by both the churches and government of Canada towards indigenous people, including in the deadly Indian residential schools.
Relying primarily on the research gathered by Rev. Kevin Annett in his book Hidden No Longer: Genocide in Canada, Past and Present (2010, www.hiddennolonger.com), the aboriginal advisory committee of the new Peel Region Heritage Museum in Brampton, Ontario convinced the Museum designers, Vilnis Cultural Design Works, to establish a display that shows that genocide, according to the United Nations’ definition of the crime, did occur in the Indian residential school system.
The schools were established and run jointly by the Vatican and the Crown of England in 1834, and continued until 1996. According to government statistics, nearly half of the 150,000 children in these schools died because of treatment and conditions there.
The decision to document this genocide in the new Peel Region Museum was forced by the Advisory committee’s chair, Allan Jamieson of the Haudenosaunee Nation, who faced major opposition from Vilnis to include the term “genocide” in the Museum displays.
“We want to tell our story about what happened to our people, and is still happening in Canada, and we want Canadians and others to learn about it, and we don’t want to sugar coat it” said Jamieson to Teka News this week.
“As victims of this genocide, we have a right to characterize for ourselves how we have been, and still are mistreated. The committee’s work does not include having to convince the Vilnis team of genocide in Canada … It is truly tiring and demeaning to have to try to convince learned people about accurate history.”
Allan Jamieson, who has consulted Rev. Annett in the past, has also learned that Canadian government agencies make up about one third of Vilnis’ business. Their list of clients includes companies that also benefit from the dispossession of First Nations lands including a home builders association, a mining association, and a pulp and paper company.
Until now, not a single Canadian Museum has displayed the evidence of the massive mortality level in Indian residential schools or of their deliberate murder and crimes, documented in archived letters and testimonies published by Rev. Annett since 1998.
“It’s an incredible breakthrough” commented Rev. Annett today in London, England, where he is working with an International Tribunal to bring charges against Canada and its churches for genocide.
“Thanks to the persistence of Allan Jamieson and his people, the truth of crimes against humanity in Canada is finally being formally acknowledged, and taught to the next generation. The walls of denial are tumbling, and a huge leap has now been made towards bringing those responsible to justice.”
The London-based International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State (ITCCS) has been endorsed by over thirty organizations, including survivors of child abuse in nine nations, as well as seven different indigenous nations across Canada.

Wonderful news. Canada has never been “Canada the Good”. I have posted about these atrocities quite a few times over the years. It is good to see the mess exposed.
This is really wonderful news. My heart goes out to all those who have fought hard to make this happen, like rev Annette whom I met in London at one of his lectures. Let us hope that the snowball becomes an avalanche. More and more people need to know about this for the sake of the indigenous people of Canada and all the other indigenous population of this planet who have been dispossessed and tormented in the past and present.
Thats why I whrite, for People like the Indigenouse Cannadians. And Cannada is not the noly country that did that, just the scale of killings where lesser.

American jewish Museums should be made to display jsut key portions of th vast amount of thoroughly documented evidence of the primary role in FUNDING the GENOCIDE of 110 MILLION West Africans via the African Slave Trade from the mid-1600′s through to the mid-1860′s! Hold those responsible, accountable. A blanket “kill whitey” mentality will get you nothing but conflict and backlash. Seize the assets of the Catholic, Anglican, or whatever Churches and redistribute it throughout the affected population. While money will not bring back those murdered, the redistribution of BILLIONS of stolen dollars will make the survivors lives much easier.
My Mother has received her birthday card from the queen of England for reaching 100 yrs old. The front of the card comprises of her face with the most evil looking eyes I have ever seen! This is not only my opinion. Everyone without fail has seen what I see and made comment about it. The eyes are the windows of the soul and in her case NO SOUL! I hope she gets what is coming to her!
It is very true. So many times I have made the same consideration upon seeing pictures of the queen and let alone her husband. I wish people would realize exactly who she is and what she is, unfortunately in the UK they seem to still be very proud of the royal family as a national symbol. Prince William wedding says it all. At a time when people are seeing their civil rights, their money and human rights going down the drain, the nation still seems to be able to afford billions of pound of tax payers money to honour a massive lie.
Well I was told today that the Vilnis Design Team has hired a lawyer ad also that the Peel Region Heritage Department is refusing to consider the ongoing effects of genocide against the First Nations people in Canada. The evidence is overwhelming, the highest suicide rates, highest infant mortality, lowest life expectancy, most poverty stricken, and death from environmental destruction eg. Grassy Narrows.
The arbitrary decision by the Heritage department was made without discussing it with the Committee first. That is paternalistic and oppressive and reeks of cover-up.

Whats it got to do with the queen? She’s just head of state, has no power at all. The royal family hasnt for years, it was stript from them over a few hundred years. Now all she does is open parliment, do a speech each year and potter around other countries shaking hands. I think you all must think she is dictator of Britain with power to do everything and anything, she hasnt and they havent for years. How in the hell would she know what was going on in a church school in canada? are you mad? Im no monarchist but I do know alot about the royal family and its histories and what your saying is put together in your own head.
They have done this all over the world people! Not just in canada! Look at all of north america, africa, australia, any country that is now occupied by the queen and the roman catholic church. They have killed probably billions of indigenous peoples around the world. I am glad though that the canadian indigenous peoples are starting to do something about it though! Ive heard stories of american indigenous people going throught the same thing long before these vids came out.
